FAQs

Usually, the practice schedule is determined by factors such as the number of children enrolled, the number of teams formed in each age group, coach availability, and field space availability. Once teams are finalized and coaches are assigned, the sports directors organize practices based on team schedules and field availability. Several of our sports directors are unable to provide practice schedules in advance. However, we encourage you to contact the sports director for any specific inquiries.

Registration takes place several months ahead as it aligns with the scheduling and field rental arrangements for all sports during the respective season. Rosters, birth certificates, field rental agreements, insurance, etc. must be turned into leagues. Then submitted to other governing bodies to ensure all criteria is met. It is after that, we, as the CYAA, are granted league schedules. This type of planning and organizing takes a lot time and effort.

Below are a list of common request we hear; each director will do their best to make accommodations but cannot be guaranteed. These questions should be asked to the individual director as each sport has different requirements and league rules.

  • Can my child play for a certain coach?
  • Can my child play with a specific friend?
  • Can my child have specific practice nights and times?
  • Can my child move up or down a level?

Background screening is mandatory for coaches, assistant coaches, directors, and other leadership positions within the CYAA organization that involve direct contact or supervision of youth. However, general volunteering roles such as scorekeeping, field maintenance, concessions, etc., do not necessitate background screening or clearances.
