Overview
Teams are formed by age groups determined by birth year, as defined by US Youth Soccer. A child’s age group remains the same for the entire school year (fall and following spring season). Age group can be determined by subtracting birth year from the calendar year at end of the school year. For example, for the 2024-2025 school year, children born in 2013 would be in the U12 age group.
All fields for practices and home games are at the Lancaster Catholic High School Stadium Complex or next door at Stauffer Park.
CYAA Soccer participates in these three leagues:
CYAA Intramural Soccer (U6-U8)
This is designed to be fun and interactive. Our goal is to cultivate a love of the game at an early age. For kids interested in learning the fundamentals of soccer and gaining experience, this is a great place to start. Practice is one evening per week for one hour (TBD based on coach and field availability).
U6 teams are coed, and play games on Saturday mornings/early afternoon. Games at this level are 3v3 (no goalies) against other CYAA or Manheim Township Soccer Club teams.
U7/U8 age groups are combined into U8 teams. Teams are divided by gender, with boys games on Saturday mornings (sometimes afternoon) and girls games on Sunday afternoons. Games at this level are 4v4 (plus goalies) against other CYAA or Manheim Township Soccer Club teams.
CYAA provides a t-shirt to Intramural players each season. Players will need to bring shin guards and water for all games and practices. Size 3 ball and cleats are also highly recommended.
CYAA Recreational Soccer (U9-U19)
Recreational Soccer is basically 'for the fun of it'. Open to all skill levels, no tryouts are required to join a team. All players will receive equal playing time. Practice is once or twice per week for 1.5 hours each.
Teams play at the following age groups: U10 (U9/U10 ages), U12 (U11/U12 ages), U15 (U13-U15 ages) and U19 (U16-U19 ages). U10, U12 and U15 teams are divided by gender, U19 teams are coed.
Teams participate in the Lancaster Area Recreational Soccer (LARS) League with games against other teams from across Lancaster County. Boys and coed games are held on Saturdays and girls games are held on Sundays.
Teams participate in the LARS end of season tournaments.
Players will need to purchase a jersey, shorts and socks (or reuse from a prior season), and will also need shin guards, water and cleats for all practices and games.
CYAA Crusader Soccer Academy (CSA) Club/Travel Soccer – (U9-U19)
More competitive level of play. Players try out for roster slots on the CSA teams. Playing time is not guaranteed, but players that regularly attend practice and demonstrate maximum effort will get game time each week. Teams typically practice twice per week for 1.5 hours each.
Specific age groups for teams are based on how many players there are at each age level and may change each season.
Teams play games on Saturday or Sunday against other teams in the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League (CPYSL), with all teams located in the Susquehanna Valley. No out of state travel required.
One tournament per season is included in the registration fee, with tournament choice left up to each team. Historically, many teams have chosen to play locally in the Hempfield Fall Classic (fall) and PA Classics Alliance Cup (spring), both held at various locations around Lancaster County.
Players will need to purchase a club team uniform (or reuse from a prior season), and will also need shin guards, water and cleats for all practices and games.
